On Your Mark 2009
Heads Up Brain Injury Support in Miami County hosted the Third Annual On Your Mark charity run/walk to benefit TBI Survivors on September 19, 2009 at the Paola High School Track Stadium in Paola, KS.
On Your Mark was established in 2007 to benefit TBI Survivors, their families, caregivers, and supporters. Peggy Leis, a Heads Up Board Member and the mother of a TBI Survivor, suggested having our own charity event. She also suggested we call this event ON YOUR MARK to honor Mark Orr, one of our TBI Survivors and his family.
The first On Your Mark was an incredible success, has become an annual event for Paola, and is quickly expanding to include the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Come join us in this incredible opportunity to raise funding and awareness for TBI Survivors everywhere.
This annual event is dedicated to Mark Orr, his family and to all survivors of brain injury.
Mark Orr suffered a traumatic injury to the brain stem in February 2006. He was in a car accident and his metal briefcase struck him in the base of the skull. He was in a coma for eight weeks and then spent sixteen months at a Neuro-rehabilitation center in Carbondale, Illinois. Mark was able to attend our first run and has participated in every one since. He is now home with his wife, Lori, and two beautiful daughters. He and his family are Paola natives.
